Whether you've dabbled in the past but fell out of touch, or simply missed the boat entirely and now you want to get caught up, there's a lot to learn to be an effective operator. To help smooth out your transition from a green-footed grunt to a hardened Siege soldier, I've put together a list of helpful tips to help you breach and clear its hyper-competitive community. If you're new to Rainbow Six Siege the first thing you want to do when you start up the game is watch all three tutorial videos. These provide a quick overview of some of the components in the game and will give you 200 Renown each, which is the in-game currency that allows you to purchase new Operators, attachments for weapons, and in-game skins. 5. Microsoft is reportedly reviving the Fable series with a big-budget, character-focused action-RPG. Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon series, is said to be developing the new Fable. Eurogamer reports Microsoft is making a "significant investment" in Fable, though development is still in its "early days." The report states Playground is in the process of hiring staff, "with some 200 people set to work on the game." Playground has already brought on talent from DICE, Rockstar North, and Ninja Theory. 6. Monster Hunter World is set to receive a Day One patch which adds a few new features - most notably, the arrival of series staple Poogies. The adorable little pet pigs initially seemed to be absent from the game but after we mentioned it in our list of 47 ways Monster Hunter World mixes up the series' formula, Capcom calmed our spirits by informing us that Poogies would appear in the game in some form - and now we know they'll be arriving on launch day. As reported by Siliconera, the game's producer Ryozo Tsujimoto appeared as part of a Capcom TV live stream to explain what was included in the patch, confirming that Poogies' relationship with the player characters will remain the same as in previous iterations: you can show it affection and pick it up, and Monster Hunter World actually takes this a step further by including a treasure hint function. While carrying your Poogie, a rumbling controller will indicate nearby treasure - and your porcine pal will even scurry off and collect it for you. Continue reading… View the full article

  8. Nintendo plans to announce a "new interactive experience for the Switch" later today, with more details expected at 10pm GMT / 5pm EST / 2pm PST / 9am Thursday January 18 AEDT. Although there is little information at the moment, Nintendo is describing it as "specially crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart". The announcement comes as something of a surprise; last week saw a Nintendo Direct Mini but that presentation didn't allude to anything like this. Since the Direct was focused on games, it seems likely that this is something else, perhaps an accessory, although the phrase "interactive experience" would suggest something a little wider. 9. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT launches for the PlayStation 4 on January 30, but fans of the franchise will have more than one way to pit their favourite characters against each other, with the news that a mobile version of the game called Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia will be arriving on Android and Apple devices in the near future, following a successful launch in Japan. Taking its inspiration from Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, this game also features a world where Spiritus and Materia are locked in eternal battle, pitting warriors from various realms against each other. When the endless battle becomes too much, the warriors send out a cry for help, which is where the player comes in. Continue reading… View the full article
  10. The “Survive” in the title of Metal Gear Survive is a lot more literal than the first glimpses of gameplay might’ve made it seem. This is, first and foremost, a survival game, with unforgiving thirst and hunger systems that deplete by the second. On the other hand, the “Metal Gear” part of the title is much less literal. This is an action-first, crafting-driven adventure that, based on our three hours of hands-on time, has almost nothing but environments in common with previous games in the series, for better or for worse. We dropped into the game’s seemingly expansive open world right after a series of somewhat uninspiring story cutscenes, and were immediately introduced to Survive’s version of Mother Base. It’s a fairly bleak but customizable base setup that initially has stations for crafting gear, weapons, and medicine, plus a fireplace for cooking raw meat so it becomes edible. There’s also a station specifically dedicated to leveling up, and all of these are explained by two off-screen robots that speak infuriatingly slowly. Continue reading… View the full article

  12. Blizzard has announced when all players can dive into the Overwatch Blizzard World map for competitive play. The Blizzard World map, first announced at BlizzCon 2017, will be available on Jan. 23. The map is an homage to Blizzard's other franchises, including World of Warcraft and Hearthstone. Featuring areas themed around all of these games, Blizzard World lets players loose in an amusement park. Blizzard's hit hero shooter is in the midst of its first season of the Overwatch League, for which Twitch spent $90 million on the rights to stream exclusively. And if you're interested in following along, Blizzard released the Overwatch League companion app. Continue reading… View the full article
  13. @LynnRamos While I respect Tom Brady, I don't like him. And I can't believe I am typing this, but I am a low key fan of the Vikings defense. I love their aggressive play style, rather than being a read and react defense. Jacksonville isn't as aggressive on defense, but they have more playmakers so they don't have to be. Despite popular belief, I love low scoring defensive battles. I take nothing away from the Eagles, as their front seven is awesome! Anyone but New England in the SB would make me happy.

  15. EarthBound fans are working on a new book chronicling years of waiting for a Western release of Mother 3. Titled “C'mon Nintendo, Give Us Mother 3,” the book is coming to Fangamer in late 2018 and chronicles years of waiting for the follow-up to Nintendo’s beloved quirky RPG. “Today, asking Nintendo to translate Mother 3 has become a huge running joke - it's even been featured on national television and parodied by top Nintendo executives,” the book’s description reads. “But how did hope for a simple game translation blow up into something so big? Rumors, hype, letdowns, and lies - this is the story of the most-wanted game translation ever.” Continue reading… View the full article
  16. The Xbox One X has arrived, and it’s brought with it a lot of horsepower. Many new games built to take direct advantage of the console look fantastic, and some older games that have gotten 4K retrofits look brand new again. So we’ve compiled a list of games that should blow you away, visually speaking, whether you’ve invested in a 4K TV or not. These are the best games to get on Xbox One X right now. Assassin’s Creed Origins was already one of the best looking games of 2017, but with the extra horsepower of the One X’s GPU and available RAM, the visuals look insane for a console. Drawn distance and improved shadow quality are some of the most prominent visual boosts, but the dynamic scaling resolution delivers crisp 4K visuals much of the time while ensuring a smooth and stable frame-rate. 22. WEEK 6 - JACKSONVILLE @ MINNESOTA In a shoot-out the Vikings needed their home fans to keep their spirits up. At the start of the 4th the Vikings were up 17 - 7. But for the second consecutive contest their opponent came storming back. With two minutes remaining the Vikings found themselves down 17 - 21, as our defense couldn't stop a nose bleed. The offense bailed them out with a drive Tom Brady would've been proud of. The drive was capped with a touchdown pass with :46 seconds left on the clock. For once we had a vertical passing game a la @X2KFootballG0dX, and it felt good not to have the stress of a 12 play drive. But the defense still had a job to do. Just beyond mid-field and driving, pro bowl corner Xavier Rhodes was mobbed by his teammates as he sealed the win with an interception around the 30 yard line. Final score 24 - 21 GG @deeoutdat7, you had me on the ropes! 25. In the wake of rumors that Dark Souls Remastered could support cross play (online connectivity between different platforms), Bandai Namco has confirmed that this will not be the case. We reached out to find out if the feature is currently or ever being considered for the multiplatform remaster and a representative confirmed to IGN that Dark Souls: Remastered "will not have cross-platform play." While the original releases of Dark Souls didn't support online play between consoles, rumors have been bolstered by the inclusion of cross play in Minecraft and Rocket League, which recently launched on Nintendo Switch incorporating cross-platform play between Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and between PlayStation 4 and PC. 26. Ubisoft has announced the release dates for Assassin's Creed Origins' upcoming DLC packs, including The Hidden Ones, Discovery Tour, and The Curse of the Pharoahs. Over the next few months, players will gain access to all of the season pass content for Ubisoft's open-world titan. The Hidden Ones will launch on January 23, and will be a story-driven expansion set four years after the events of Origins as the Brotherhood wars against Roman forces occupying the Sinai, a brand new region. The expansion will also increase the level cap to 45 and introduce new weapons and mounts, new levels for crafted gear, and a new outfit for Bayek. The Hidden Ones will be available for all season pass holders, or can be purchased separately for $10 USD. Continue reading… View the full article
